The Power of the Pause: Trusting Rest as Part of the Process

Lately, a theme has been popping up in nearly every conversation I’ve had.

“I feel so tired.”

“I’m not really motivated right now.”

“I was relieved when plans got canceled.”

And then, the phrase that keeps coming up: “I just feel like I need a pause.”

Maybe you’ve been feeling it, too—that subtle (or not-so-subtle) pull to slow down, to take a breather, to let yourself just be for a while.

But here’s the thing—most of us have been conditioned to override that feeling.

We’re taught that rest is something we have to earn, that slowing down means falling behind, that we should always be striving toward something.

But what if this need for a pause isn’t something to push through? What if it’s actually part of the process?

The Universe Is Recalibrating

Think about the past few months. Maybe you’ve been stepping into a more empowered version of yourself. You’ve been making bolder choices, setting boundaries, honoring yourself in ways that required courage. Maybe you’ve been dismantling old limiting beliefs, letting go of patterns that no longer serve you.

And now? Your mind, body, and spirit need a moment to catch up.

It’s not that you’re losing momentum—it’s that the universe is rearranging itself to match the new, empowered you.

Your external reality is shifting to reflect your internal growth.

That takes energy.

And integration.

That’s why you might be feeling tired. Why your motivation is low. Why you’re secretly (or not so secretly) relieved when plans get canceled.

You don’t need to fight this. You don’t need to force yourself to be productive. You just need to allow the pause to happen.

What Does a Pause Actually Look Like?

A pause doesn’t have to be dramatic. You don’t need to disappear into the mountains for a week (unless you want to). Sometimes, it’s simply about giving yourself permission to follow what feels nourishing—without guilt or pressure to be productive.

Maybe your pause looks like:

• Binge-watching your favorite show and letting yourself get lost in the storyline.

• Taking extra-long walks with no destination, just enjoying the movement and fresh air.

• Going to a yoga class or a sound bath and letting your body release tension.

• Reading a book just for fun, with no agenda other than enjoying the story.

• Spending an afternoon browsing boutiques, wandering through shops without a list or a plan.

• Sitting in a cozy café, sipping a warm drink, people-watching, and just being.

• Taking a nap, because sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is rest.

A pause isn’t about doing nothing—it’s about doing what feels restorative. It’s about stepping back, allowing space, and trusting that rest is part of the process.

Let Yourself Be

You are not broken. You are not behind. You don’t need to fix anything.

This pause, this lull, this feeling of needing to slow down?

It’s part of the cycle.

Let yourself rest. Let yourself breathe. Trust that everything is still unfolding exactly as it should.

And when you’re ready—when you’ve given yourself the space to pause—you’ll feel it. The energy will return. The motivation will spark again. The next step will reveal itself.

But for now? Just be.

Because the pause isn’t stopping you from moving forward. It is moving you forward—in the most natural, effortless way possible.

And that’s something worth honoring.

And to help you embrace stillness, take a few minutes with my guided meditation Pause and Embrace Stillness. It is a beautiful way to let yourself fully lean into this moment.
