Ahhhh.. Valentine's Day weekend.
Maybe you’re all in - romantic dinner plans, roses, love notes, the works! 🌹
Or perhaps you’re rolling your eyes at the heart-shaped hysteria flooding your social media feed. 🙄
Maybe it’s a time for self-love, complete with cozy blankets, a face mask, and your favorite takeout while you binge watch shows that require zero emotional investment. 🥰
Or maybe you opt out entirely, deeming it just another Hallmark holiday designed to sell overpriced chocolate and overpriced expectations. 🤷🏻♀️
Wherever you land on the Valentine’s Day spectrum, there’s one thing that deserves a little attention no matter what: your heart.
I don't mean in the flowers-and-chocolate kind of way. I mean in the deeper, more expansive sense.

Love is more than just a feeling. (yes, I also now hear Boston's More than a Feeling in my head 🎶)
In yoga and many other spiritual modalities, we recognize that love isn't just an emotion - it's an energy.
The heart is the center of that energy, and within the body’s energetic system - also known as the chakras - it holds a powerful role.
While there are many energy centers in the body, the most recognized are the seven main foundational ones that run along the spine - from the base to the crown of our heads. Each center, or chakra, corresponds to a different area of our life.
The three lower chakras keep us grounded in our human experience - survival, creative expression and personal power.
The upper three are spiritual in nature - intuition, wisdom and divine connection.
And right in the middle? The heart chakra. The bridge. The meeting place where human love and spiritual love intertwine.
When our heart energy is open and flowing freely, love isn't something we chase. It's something we are. Love in all it's forms: compassion, kindness, self-acceptance and connection to something greater than ourselves.
Life feels lighter. More fluid. We feel happier and at peace - with ourselves, others and life itself.
But let’s be honest - keeping the heart open isn’t always easy.
Life happens. People hurt us. We put up walls. We get really good at self-protection, at armoring up, at convincing ourselves that keeping love out is somehow safer than letting it in.
Maybe we hesitate to trust. Maybe we keep our emotions guarded. Maybe we feel unworthy of the love that is already all around us.
Yet, love is always present.
It is not something we have to chase or earn. It's not reserved just for the lucky few.
Love is energy. Love is something we allow.
When we take time to tune into the heart, we invite healing.
We soften our resistance, release what no longer serves us, and return to the natural state of love that has been there all along.
So how do we reconnect?
Meditation, breathwork, yoga and mindful awareness are some of the best tools we have to tap into heart energy. They remind us that love isn't just something external - it's an internal state of being.
If you’re ready to open your heart and reconnect with love in all its forms, I invite you to experience my guided meditation, The Power of an Open Heart for Healing, Love, and Connection. This meditation will help you release energetic blocks, expand into love, and realign with the peace and connection that are already within you.
And if this message resonates with you, share this blog or the meditation with someone who could use a little extra heart energy. Because love isn’t just something we receive - t’s something we give, something we share, and something that expands infinitely when we allow it to flow.
