Deep Roots, High Reaches

Updated: Apr 5

This morning, I was out on the deck—shaking off the many strategically placed dog beds (because of course Caymus and Chapyin need options), wiping down chairs, and cleaning the tables for what must be the hundredth time this week.

Why? Because it’s that season.

The Great Pine Pollen Takeover has begun.

No surface is safe. If you’ve ever tried to challenge the stubborn yellow dusting Mother Nature so generously sprinkles everywhere this time of year, you know it’s like trying to win an argument with a cat.

Futile. But I do it anyway. A girl can dream.

In between sneezes and swipes, I paused to really take in the scene of early spring.

Birds were busy tending to their nests—many of them featuring luxurious accents of freshly brushed Caymus fur. (Five stars. Highly recommend.)

The hydrangeas had suddenly decided to show up, shaking off their winter sleep, and the towering trees around us were unfurling their leafy canopy once again.

I marveled at how deeply aligned we are with nature.

Think about it.

Seeds are really like our intentions.

We need to be intentional with what we plant— tomato seeds will never produce lemon trees, or vice versa - no matter how much we wish and pray over them.

Nor will they ever grow in concrete - as our dreams won't flourish in hard, unforgiving spaces or toxic soil.

Plant your dreams in fertile ground—the kind the Universe provides when we align with it, trust it, and act from a place of clarity and faith.

And let's not forget that incredible, uncomfortable moment—when the seed cracks open.

From the outside, it might look like it's breaking.

Like something has gone wrong.

But that crack? That's where life begins.

It's the moment the old shell gives way so something new can emerge.

The spark of transformation.

The death of what was, and the birth of what's becoming.

It's tender. Messy. Sometimes painful. But always necessary.

And as that tiny sprout pushes up through the dark, heavy soil? Toward a light it’s never seen before?

It doesn’t always look - or feel - like progress.

More like pressure. Uncertainty.

Like effort, without reward.

Sound familiar?

That’s the stretch of growth inside us, too. The moments when everything feels wobbly and raw and not quite figured out.

The time we may give up and walk away.

That tiny sprout, hidden from view, is busy building strength from within. Its roots are quietly digging deep, anchoring it firmly so that one day it can burst forth, stretching boldly toward the sky.

True growth often happens in silence, beneath the surface where no one can see. Yet, every inch of progress, every hidden connection, is paving the way for a magnificent emergence.

The work you’re doing—your inner resolve, your resilience, the dreams you nurture—is much like those unseen roots. They may be invisible at times, but they’re the very foundation that prepares you to weather life’s storms and reach new heights.

Because we weren’t made just to grow up. We were made to grow deep and high.

To root and rise.

It’s a balance. A dance. One that, when thrown off, often shows up as anxiety, frustration, or feeling like we’re floating around untethered or stuck in the mud.

When we ground ourselves—through intention, awareness, presence—we create the freedom to expand, to reach, to rise.

If that message is landing for you today, I invite you to try my five minute fix guided meditation, Grounded and Free. It’s designed to help you feel steady and anchored, while also awakening that part of you that’s ready to grow, stretch, and shine.

Because you were made for both.
